Eng. 11 - June 3

Studying for MacTest:

Categories:

5 marks - dramatic devices
5 marks - Shakespearean language
10 marks - characters
15 marks - plot
30 marks - quotes (who's speaking, circumstance, significance)
15 marks - paragraph answers

For dramatic devices:  study the dramatic devices sheet and see if you can think of how each device works in the play - can you think of an example, not listed on the sheet?

For Shakespearean language - this is just testing to see if you understand the words in the context - the only studying for this part was engaging with the play and trying to figure out the play on your own as much as possible.

Study the characters.  Go over the Dramatis Personae and see if you can think of what each character did and his/her importance in the play.

See if you can tell someone the plot of this play.  What was important?

Quotes - think of the important moments of the play - write down some important quotes and think of their significance.  Phone a friend and test each other - you will probably have different quotes.

Paragraphs - think of the elements of drama, character motivation and other themes.  Make sure you have watched the Polanski movie.

***After studying by yourself, studying with a friend - quizzing each other is very helpful.
